Grow to Learn grant applications are scored numerically on a 0-18 point scale by Grow to Learn staff and partners. This year, in an effort to encourage schools to access existing resources and networks to support their gardens, Grow to Learn will be offering bonus points on applications from schools that attend workshops and networking events for school gardeners. As applications are scored on an 18 point scale, bonus points can contribute significantly to an application’s standing. See the workshops and matrix below for available opportunities.

Mini Grant Quick FAQ's
Who is eligible?

Grant applications are accepted from New York City public and charter schools who have also registered with Grow to Learn.

We recognize that school garden programs come in many sizes, shapes, and locations including classrooms, schoolyards, rooftops, and partnerships with urban farms or community gardens, all of which are eligible to apply for grants.

How are applications evaluated?

We are looking for projects that are well-planned, attainable and have a positive impact on children with relation to nutrition and environmental education.  Applicants should demonstrate a plan that emphasizes youth-centered learning and working in a garden. Applicants should also indicate whether and how funding would be used to construct a new garden, support a start-up garden program, or to expand an established garden program.
